What We're Doing for the Environment:

Inn owners, Teresa and Mike Jake Jacobson, began with a Let's start where we stand attitude to implement green living. Their focus began with a nudge from the couples son, Josh, an eco-expert in San Diego, California, and their own methodical commitment -- "Lets do our part."

1. Eco-friendly lodging began with Jake totally re-landscaping the inns gardens with heirloom and indigenous plants, plus low volume irrigation. Jake is an expert in the low volume irrigation industry.

2. Not only is the inn implementing eco-consciousness within the inn, the innkeepers are giving an introductory education to up to 7300 inn guests annually on the merits of living more green.

3. Long before the City of Savannahs recycling program, Teresa and Jake brought their recycling habits from San Diego as a personal way of life to their new home in the Deep South. Initially, recycling was implemented at the inn with a pay for pickup.

4. Guests are offered the option for daily linen and towel changes.

5. When 6 bathrooms were totally remodeled in August 2008, eco-friendly products (example, shampoo and conditioner in bulk dispensers) and water conservation measures (such as watersaving shower heads and toilets) were components of the inns modernizations.

6. For energy efficiency, the inn uses twist style compact fluorescent light bulbs.
