Stick to your New Years' resolutions by learning how to make healthy and delicious meals at one of our cooking classes. Learn how to take Local and Organic produce and turn it into simple yet, splendid fare for you and your loved ones. Chef Robert Wood encourages questions and leaves plenty of room for notes on the recipes you receive. Typical classes usually last 2 ½ hours, and cover a wide variety of topics. Learning never tasted so good as you receive: tips on storage, suggestions for wine pairings, technique demonstrations, and insight from a chef among other things.  

February 12, 2009 - In this class we will examine how to make quick, healthy dishes that still satisfy the taste buds. We will use bold flavors from different Pan-Asian cuisines to see the impact fresh spices, herbs and lively aromatics make. I love to use these flavors to wake up the winter veggies like broccoli, cabbage and carrots. Some great Springer Mountain chicken as well as local seafood will fill out the menu.

3 courses - $60 per person

February 14, 2009 - In celebration of Valentine's Day we will focus on soul warming plates for two. We will look at the importance of texture in food and how it affects our experience. With dishes designed to be cooked and enjoyed together, Chef Wood will show you how to work as a team in the kitchen. What better way to celebrate your relationship? We will use seasonal veggies of course along with sensual foods to tempt your palette.

4 courses $140 per couple

February 24, 2009 - Updating Southern classics has always been one of my favorite forms of inspiration. Come and see how to turn green tomatoes into chutney and get a whole new perspective on cooking greens. Southern food has endured an unhealthy reputation far too long. We will refine the comforting flavors of the South into a new healthy spin. Local fish and shellfish will co-star alongside seasonal local veggies.

3 courses - $60 per person     

           In order to sign up for the class of your choice please email robbie@greentomatoconcepts.com for availability. Credit card or prepayment required for registration. Cancellation or rescheduling must be made at least 1 week prior to the class or payment will be processed. All that you need to bring to class is a desire to learn and have a good time. All classes will be held at Starfish Café 719 E. Broad St. and will begin at 6:30 pm. A portion of the proceeds from every class will go to support Starfish Café.
