Looking for a flooring product that is ECO FRIENDLY?  Almost everything is available these days.....from carpet that is made from plastic bottles, or carpet that can be recycled over and over again, to tile that is made from recycled glass, to bamboo wood.  The styles and colors have come a long way from years ago when going "GREEN" was just becoming popular.  What is most important when choosing a green flooring product is where it's going .  Commercial or residential, high traffic area, or near a water source in the home?  Decisions need to be made as to the durability and function of the product, the look you are trying to achieve, and the care that goes along with it.  Sometimes there are factors that really make you want to go GREEN.  You decide.  Here are some products that are available at Coastal Design Connections.  

BLISS CARPET:  Contains Silver Release, which is based on naturally occurring elements and built into the fibers so it won't wash off, for the life of your carpet.  Provides long lasting antimicrobial protection (fights off bacteria mold and mildew) and promotes a cleaner indoor environment.
Green Smart Carpet Fiber:  Environmentally friendly carpet.  It is 100 % recycled  P.E.T. polyester.  Recycle, Reuse, Renew.
Magic Fresh:  An exclusive self-renewing, odor destroying technology that is environmentally friendly and is specifically designed to improve the indoor air quality of your home. This means smoke, pet odors and common household odors and pollutants.  

STAINMASTER GREEN CHOICE CARPET:  Recycled nylon carpet. This carpet made by Kraus is produced by wind power and has recycled backing and recycled nylon fibers.  These carpets feature Bio Fresh, which has an anti-microbial protection and is certified to the Carpet & Rug Institute's highest Indoor Air Quality rating. Ideal for people who are sensitive to air quality.  There are many styles and colors to choose from, and you really need to stop in and feel how soft they are too! 

TILE:  There really are so many tiles available to mention in one paragraph!  Some tiles are made of recycled glass; some have a percentage of recycled content. Some setting materials as well as the tiles are recycled content, so you can be more aware of the entire project from top to bottom!  These are called GREEN/LEED products, and will be listed as to the content.

BAMBOO and CORK: Bamboo and cork can be harvested many times over their life, and are able to renew themselves in a relatively short period of time.  Most come from managed forests.  Bamboo is technically a grass and has a distinctive look and unique grain character. Bamboo also releases 35% more oxygen than trees!  
Cork flooring is extremely dense, and comfortable under foot. They are naturally resistant to mold and mildew, and also have the added benefit of thermal and acoustical insulation properties. This helps to keep the noise down and reduce power consumption.  And even better is the fact that it is also a natural fire inhibitor and does not spread flame. This is good!  Many different looks are available and most are in a laminate type installation (floating floor).
